 A HURRICANE WARNING REMAINSIN EFFECT  FOR THE ISLANDSOF GRAND BAHAMA,ABACO, BIMINI, AND THE BERRY ISLANDS.

 A HURRICANE WARNINGMEANS THAT HURRICANECONDITIONS COULD BE EXPERIENCED IN THE ABOVE MENTIONED ISLANDS WITHIN 36 HOURS.

 A TROPICAL STORM WARNINGREMAINS IN EFFECT FOR THE ISLANDS OF ELEUTHERA, NEW PROVIDENCE AND ANDROS.

 AT 7:00 AMEST, THE CENTEROF SUBTROPICAL STORM NICOLE WAS LOCATED NEAR LATITUDE 27.7° DEGREES NORTH AND LONGITUDE 72.0° DEGREES WEST, OR ABOUT:

310 MILES EAST-NORTHEAST OF HOPE TOWN, ABACO

365 MILES EAST-NORTHEAST OF EAST END, GRAND BAHAMA

310 MILES NORTHEAST OF GOVERNOR’S HARBOUR,ELEUTHERA

370 MILES NORTHEAST OF NEW PROVIDENCE

AND 410 MILES NORTHEAST OF NICHOLLS TOWN, ANDROS.

 NICOLE IS MOVING TOWARD THE WEST-NORTHWEST NEAR 8 MPH. A TURN TOWARD THE WEST AND WEST-SOUTHWEST IS FORECAST TODAY AND TONIGHT AND THAT MOTION SHOULD CONTINUE THROUGH WEDNESDAY. A TURN TOWARD THE NORTHWEST AND NORTH-NORTHWEST IS EXPECTED THURSDAY AND THURSDAY NIGHT. ON THE FORECAST TRACK, THE CENTER OF NICOLE WILL APPROACH THE NORTHWEST BAHAMAS TODAY AND TONIGHT, AND MOVE NEAR OR OVER THOSE ISLANDS ON WEDNESDAY.

 MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS ARE NEAR 50 MPH WITH HIGHER GUSTS. NICOLE IS EXPECTED TO MAKE A TRANSITION TO A TROPICAL STORM LATER TODAY AND BEGIN TO STRENGTHEN. NICOLE IS FORECAST TO BE NEAR OR AT HURRICANE STRENGTH BY WEDNESDAY AND WEDNESDAY NIGHT, WHILE IT IS MOVING NEAR OR OVER THE NORTHWEST BAHAMAS.

 WINDS OF 40 MPH EXTEND OUTWARD UP TO 380 MILES FROM THE CENTER.

 STORM SURGE COULD RAISE WATER LEVELS BY AS MUCH AS 4 TO 6 FEET ABOVENORMAL TIDE LEVELS ALONG THE IMMEDIATE COAST IN THE NORTHWEST BAHAMAS.

 LARGE SWELLS GENERATED BY NICOLE WILL AFFECT THE NORTHWEST BAHAMAS DURING THE NEXT SEVERAL DAYS. THESE SWELLS ARE LIKELY TO CAUSE LIFE-THREATENING SURF AND RIP CURRENT CONDITIONS.

 NICOLE IS EXPECTED TO PRODUCE RAINFALL AMOUNTS OF 3 TO 5 INCHES WITHLOCALIZED HIGHER AMOUNTS OF UP TO 7 INCHES, ACROSS THE NORTHWEST BAHAMASTODAY THROUGH THURSDAY.

 THE FORMATION OF WATERSPOUTS AND TORNADOS ARE POSSIBLE DURING THE PASSAGE OF NICOLETHROUGH THE BAHAMAS.

 PREPARATIONS TO PROTECT LIFE AND PROPERTY SHOULD BE RUSHED TO COMPLETION. BOATERS SHOULD REMAIN IN PORT OR MOVE VESSELS TO SAFE HARBOUR.

 RESIDENTS IN THE NORTHWEST BAHAMAS SHOULD PREPARE FOR TROPICAL STORM CONDITIONS BEGINNING TONIGHT. RESIDENTS ON THE ISLANDS OF GRAND BAHAMA,ABACO, BIMINI AND THE BERRY ISLANDS SHOULD ANTICIPATE HURRICANECONDITIONS BEGINNING EARLY WEDNESDAY MORNING.

 INTERESTS IN THE CENTRAL BAHAMAS SHOULD CONTINUE TO MONITOR THE PROGRESS OF NICOLE.
