Newly Elected DFBA Board focused on Downtown Revitalization

With great excitement, theDowntown Freeport Business Association (DFBA) is pleased to announce the election of its new board for the 2023/2024 business year. Elections took placeon Tuesday, October 11th, 2022, at the Sir Charles Hayward Library, on theheels of a recent meet and greet event, where the Grand Bahama Port Authority(GBPA), the Ministry of Grand Bahama, and the Royal Bahamas Police Force(RBPF) pledged a renewed commitment to the organization.  

The new board comprises an eager group of citizens from a cross-section of thedowntown community, including corporate entities like the Bank of The Bahamas,Scotia Bank, BTC, and Insurance Management. The DFBA board acknowledgesthat gaining corporate support affirms confidence in the organization and acollective commitment to the revitalization of downtown. 

The board has served the downtown area for over a decade through cleanup andcultural entertainment initiatives, working closely with the GBPA to encourage theGrand Bahama community to shop locally. The new board is also looking forwardto partnering with The Ministry of Grand Bahama.  

“We are looking to bring life, laughter, and fun back to the heart and soul of Grand Bahama," says Antoine Brooks, DFBA President." We encourage GrandBahama residents to join the movement and the team in their mission torevitalize downtown” In recent years, we have enjoyed working with GBPA to host signature eventssuch as Freeport Flash Friday and December’s Midnight Madness promotions.

These have all become staples and annual events on the downtown and GrandBahama calendar. We are excited to continue this partnership with GBPA, and toforge new relationships with additional corporate stakeholders, for the benefit ofour downtown community and the local economy” added DFBA PR Director AlexThompson.
