NEWLY FORMED TROPICAL DEPRESSION NINE

AT 5 AM EDT, THE CENTER OF TROPICAL DEPRESSION NINE WAS LOCATED NEAR LATITUDE 13.9°NORTH AND LONGITUDE 68.6° WESTOR ABOUT 615 MILES EAST-SOUTHEAST OF KINGSTON JAMAICA OR ABOUT 1105 MILES EAST-SOUTHEAST OF HAVANA CUBA.

THE DEPRESSION IS MOVING TOWARD THE WEST-NORTHWEST NEAR 13 MPH. A TURN MORE WESTWARD IS FORECAST OVER THE NEXT DAY OR SO FOLLOWED BY A TURN BACK TO THE WEST-NORTHWEST AND NORTHWEST BY THIS WEEKEND.

MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS ARE NEAR 35 MILES PER HOUR WITH HIGHER GUSTS.  SLOW INTENSIFICATION IS FORECAST OVER THE NEXT DAY OR SO, WITH MORE SIGNIFICANT INTENSIFICATION OVER THE WEEKEND AND EARLY NEXT WEEK.

BASED ON THE CURRENT FORECAST TRACK, RESIDENTS THROUGHOUT THE CENTRAL AND NORTHWEST BAHAMAS ARE URGED TO CLOSELY MONITOR THE PROGRESS OF THIS STORM VIA ALL FUTURE UPDATES FROM THE BAHAMAS DEPARTMENT OF METEOROLOGY.
