1M in contracts awarded for emergency works at clinics in Andros

On Thursday September 15th, 2022 the Ministry of Health & Wellness facilitated the completion of five(5) contract signing ceremonies for emergency works at clinics on the island of Andros. The clinicsidentified for the works are the Miriam Greene Clinic (South Andros), Mangrove Cay Clinic (SouthAndros), Fresh Creek Clinic (Central Andros), Nicholls Town Clinic (North Andros) and Mastic PointClinic (North Andros).

The awarding of contracts which total approximately one million dollars, follows assessments done atclinics throughout the Bahamas since last October where it was determined that critical maintenanceworks were necessary to improve the current environment in which healthcare providers operate andto mitigate against threats to the safe delivery of essential services to communities already vulnerableto natural disasters. The scope of restoration works include concrete works, masonry and carpentryrepairs, air conditioning repairs and upgrades, interior walls and ceiling repairs, painting, plumbing andelectrical repairs.

Joining the Minister of Health & Wellness the Honourable Dr. Michael Darville, his Permanent SecretaryMr. Colin Higgs and other Ministry of Health officials were the respective Members of Parliament forSouth & Central Andros and Mangrove Cay - the Honourable Leon Lundy and North Andros & the BerryIslands - the Honourable Leonard D. Lightbourne.

The awarding of the contacts yesterday follows on the heels of two other contract signing ceremoniesin Eleuthera and Abaco which took place over the past three weeks and which also included thefacilitation of works at five (5) clinics in Eleuthera and six (6) clinics in Abaco.
