NASSAU, The Bahamas -- An Official Funeral Service was held for the late Vernon J. Symonette, CMG, former Cabinet Minister, Speaker of the House of Assembly and Parliamentarian at Zion Baptist Church, July 29, 2022, attended by Governor General His Excellency the Most Hon.

Sir Cornelius A. Smith, Prime Minister and Minister of Finance the Hon. Philip Davis, Leader of the Opposition the Hon. Michael Pintard, and government officials, who paid their last respects. 

Minister of Education and Technical & Vocational Training the Hon. Glenys Hanna-Martin presented the National Flag to Mr. Symonette's widow -- Mrs. Phyllis Symonette, at the conclusion of the ceremonies.  Interment will take place on Saturday, August 6, in Great Inagua.   (BIS Photos/Patrick Hanna)
