A man's body was recovered, one man is missing and a third man who was on board a boat when it capsized off Andros yesterday was rescued by another fisherman last night, police said. This morning police said a search and rescue operation was underway for the third man.

According to reports, the three Bahamian men left South Andros around 10 p.m. on an aluminum fishing vessel, The Molly, en route to New Providence.
“It is reported that during the journey, the vessel experienced engine problems coupled with
inclement weather, which caused the vessel to capsize,” police indicated in a press release this morning.
Police said the survivor, a 44-year-old South Andros man, was found drifting in the area of Burnt Rock shortly before 7 p.m. on Thursday. He was taken to the Mangrove Cay Clinic for treatment.
South Andros MP Leon Lundy told The Nassau Guardian last night that the three men had been on their way to bring conch into Nassau.
Lundy said the rescued man reported that the boat capsized around 10:30 a.m.
According to Lundy, the survivor indicated that he had tried to save the other men.
“[The authorities] went out tonight looking for bodies,” he said.
“They only recovered one and they’re going to contact the family, and first thing in the morning have the search and rescue continue when light comes up.”
Speaking of the survivor, Lundy said, “He was very low. They actually airlifted him into the capital tonight.”
The MP said the incident has left the community shocked.
“I can tell you, they’re devastated down there,” he said.
“A lot of persons right now are [shaken] up. They’re just praying and hopeful for the other person, but as I said, the other one has already lost his life.”
