A MAN was ordered to attend counselling yesterday after pleading guilty to stealing his uncle's girlfriend's car and phone.

Doran Johnson, 21, appeared before Senior Magistrate Carolyn Vogt-Evans on charges of stealing.
#Johnson is accused of stealing Lareisha Edgecombe’s car and $100 Samsung cell phone.
#The stolen items have since been returned.
#Johnson pleaded guilty to the charge. In explaining his actions to the magistrate, the defendant said he was under the influence at the time claiming that was the reason for a misunderstanding between him and his uncle.
#Johnson said he believed his uncle had given him the car, leading him to take Ms Edgecombe’s car on a joyride.
#After stating she did not believe the defendant’s story, Magistrate Vogt-Evans asked how long Johnson had been smoking to which he responded since he was 13. The court also noted that Johnson has no antecedents.
#The magistrate placed Johnson on a conditional discharge where he is expected to attend counselling at CCAC. Should the defendant fail to meet these conditions, he would face a $100 fine or one month at the Bahamas Department of Correctional Services.
#Johnson is expected to return to court for mention on November 7.
