For the second consecutive year, the Insurance Commission of The Bahamas has partnered with Lupus 242 for lupus awareness month. This year marks a decade since the local non-profit has set out to raise awareness and provide support to its members. Thanks to the generous donation from the Insurance Commission, Lupus 242 will, once again, assist group members with the purchase of medication and pharmaceutical supplies. Jamell Bodie (second from right), Manager-Supervision at the Insurance Commission and a lupus fighter presented the donation to Shonalee Johnson, Vice President of Lupus 242 (second from left) who thanked the organization for their continued commitment to the cause. They were joined by Sarahlee Williams (far left), Lupus 242 and Sheila McPhee (far right), Senior Administrative Assistant, Insurance Commission. In addition to the awareness campaign, Lupus 242 is also encouraging everyone to P.O.P (Put On Purple) For Lupus every Friday in May by wearing purple attire and sharing why. Events will wrap up on Saturday May 28th with a virtual Health Talk with Rheumatologist Dr. Anishka Rolle who will present on Managing Your Lupus: How To Take A More Active Role. To support the cause, follow @Lupus242 on Facebook or Instagram, visit www.lupus242.org or call 242-525-9967.
