BTVI KICKS OFF SEMESTER WITH VIRTUAL RESOURCE FAIR

The Bahamas Technical and Vocational Institute (BTVI) recently held a virtual resource fair, inviting students to take advantage of the numerous support services the institute offers for success in the classroom and beyond.

During the event – coordinated by the Student Services department – representatives discussed their roles and the free services available to the student body and welcomed questions.

With BTVI limiting in-person classes and campus activities due to COVID-19, departments have continued to make their services user-friendly and accessible through online platforms. In-person student activities such as junkanoo and basketball have been paused. However, on-campus work study opportunities and daycare services continue to be offered as campus safety measures are strictly enforced. Government and private scholarships offered to BTVI students also continue to be granted.

The virtual resource fair was well-attended by students and BTVI faculty, including Vice President of Academic Affairs, Dr. Linda Davis and Dean of Student Services, Racquel Bethel.

Presentations were made by representatives of various departments including Fund Development, the bookstore, Information Technology (Help Desk), Safety Care Unit, Admissions and Registration, the Northern Campus, Nursing, Counseling, the Learning Resource and Student Success Lab, Daycare and Learning Institute, Education USA, Financial Aid and Work Study.

The information presented to students is expected to help students smoothly transition into the new semester and encourage their use of the resources BTVI has available for a safe and successful tertiary experience.
