A Severe Thunderstorm Warning Remains In Effect For New Providence.

THE BAHAMAS DEPARTMENT OF METEOROLOGY HAS ISSUED A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING FROM 8:05 PM UNTIL 10:05PM THURSDAY 21ST OCTOBER 2021.

A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR NEW PROVIDENCE, AND ITS ADJACENT WATERS.

A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH IS NOW IN EFFECT FOR BIMINI AND ITS ADJACENT WATERS.

AT 8:00 PM LIGHTNING DETECTION, OBSERVATION, RADAR AND SATELLITE IMAGERY CONTINUED TO DEPICT A CLUSTER OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS ASSOCIATED WITH TROUGHING MOVING WESTWARDS, TOWARDS AND ACROSS THE WARNING AREA.

SOME OF THESE THUNDERSTORMS WILL BE SEVERE AT TIMES CAUSING STRONG GUSTY WINDS, DANGEROUS LIGHTNING, HEAVY DOWNPOURS, HAIL AND POSSIBLE WATERSPOUT OR TORNADIC ACTIVITY. LOCALIZED FLOODING IS ALSO POSSIBLE DURING THESE STORMS.

BOATERS IN THE WARNING AND WATCH AREAS SHOULD SEEK SAFE HARBOUR AND RESIDENTS IN THE WARNING AREA SHOULD STAY INDOORS AND AWAY FROM WINDOWS WHEN CONDITIONS WORSEN. RESIDENTS SHOULD NOT SEEK SHELTER UNDER TREES OR IN WATER AS THESE CAN BECOME LIGHTNING CONDUCTORS.
