SEVEN - DAY WEATHER FORECAST 12th - 18th October, 2021

Surface troughs over the Northwest Bahamas and Southeastern islands interact with a mid to upper level low, just north of central Cuba, to support pockets of unsettled weather across the islands. The mid to upper low will slowly drift southwestward to the northern Caribbean Sea but will still enhance shower activity over the Southeast Bahamas and Turks and Caicos Island through Thursday. Weak high pressure across the area will maintain light to moderate breezes through the weekend. A surface trough is expected to develop just east of the Northwest Bahamas on Sunday. It will gradually move westwards over the islands and increase shower activity through the middle of next week.

TUESDAY 12TH – Variably cloudy and very warm with scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms through night. Expect gusty winds and higher seas in or near heavy showers or thunderstorms. Winds: Variable, less than 10 knots, falling light and variable at times in the Northwest Bahamas; Northeast to East at 10 to 15 knots but falling light and variable at times in the Central and Southeast Bahamas. Seas: Less than 3 feet in the Northwest Bahamas; 2 to 4 feet over the ocean in the Central and Southeast Bahamas with slight northeast to easterly swells.

WEDNESDAY 13TH – Partly cloudy to cloudy, very warm and humid with scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms. Partly cloudy at night with a few stray showers. Expect gusty winds and higher seas in or near heavy showers or thunderstorms. Winds: Northeast to East at 10 to 15 knots in the Northwest and Central Bahamas; Variable, less than 10 knots in the Southeast Bahamas. Seas: 2 to 4 feet over the ocean in the Northwest and Central Bahamas; 1 to 3 feet in the Southeast Bahamas, slightly higher in light northeast to easterly swells.

THURSDAY 14TH - Partly cloudy and very warm with isolated showers or thunderstorms through night. Expect gusty winds and higher seas in or near heavy showers or thunderstorms. Winds: Northeast to East at 10 to 15 knots in the Northwest and Central Bahamas; 10 knots or less in the Southeast Bahamas but falling light and variable at times. Seas: 2 to 4 feet over the ocean in the Northwest and Central Bahamas; 1 to 3 feet in the Southeast Bahamas.

FRIDAY 15TH – Partly sunny and very warm with isolated showers and chance of a few thunderstorms. Mainly fair and warm at night with a few showers. Expect gusty winds and higher seas in or near heavy showers or thunderstorms. Winds: North to Northeast at 10 to 15 knots in the Northwest Bahamas; Less than 10 knots in the Central and Southeast Bahamas but falling light and variable at times. Seas: 2 to 4 feet over the ocean in the Northwest Bahamas; Less than 3 feet in the Southeast Bahamas.

SATURDAY 16TH – Partly sunny and very warm with a few possible showers or thunderstorms through night. Expect gusty winds and higher seas in or near heavy showers or thunderstorms. Winds: North to Northeast at 10 knots or less but falling light and variable at times. Seas: 1 to 3 feet over the ocean.

SUNDAY 17TH – Partly sunny and very warm with isolated showers or thunderstorms through night. Expect gusty winds and higher seas in or near heavy showers or thunderstorms. Winds: North to Northeast at 10 to 15 knots in the Northwest Bahamas; Light and variable in the Central and Southeast Bahamas. Seas: 2 to 4 feet over the ocean in the Northwest Bahamas; Less than 3 feet in the Central and Southeast Bahamas.

MONDAY 18TH – Partly sunny and very warm with isolated showers chance of a few thunderstorms. Mainly fair and warm at night with a few showers. Expect gusty winds and higher seas in or near heavy showers or thunderstorms. Small craft caution will come into effect in the Northwest Bahamas by night. Winds:Northeasterly at 10 to 15 knots in the Northwest Bahamas during the daytime, becoming Northeast to East at 15 to 20 knots at night; Easterly at 10 knots or less in the Central and Southeast Bahamas, increasing 10 to 15 knots by night. Seas:2 to 4 feet over the ocean during the day in the Northwest Bahamas, building 4 to 6 feet at night; Less than 3 feet in the Southeast Bahamas during the day, increasing 2 to 4 feet by night.
