Rico leaps with joy and gratitude in Colorado.DENVER, Colorado -- Grand Bahamian, Rico Thompson literally leaps for joy in Danahy Park, Northglen, Colorado as his funding from the Grand Bahama Power Company has been received.
Local boy, Rico Thompson worked diligently to secure enough funding to follow his dreams of performing, helping others and travelling the world.  He arrived on cue at the Up With People Headquarters ready to face all new challenges and make an impact.
Speaking from his host family home in Denver, he said, "I am so grateful to all of my sponsors.  I keep remembering all the people and organisations that have given me money and made this possible and I know that it wasn't easy for them to provide my funding so I am determined to make it count.  I want to thank Grand Bahama Power Company who sent another cheque to help make up some additional costs that I incurred and couldn't anticipate or avoid.  The whole process of fund raising really began my journey as I was faced with so many difficulties and rejection.  I have learned that staying in integrity and never giving up, no matter what, really does pay off.
"I also really want to thank; The Lucaya Youth Theatre Society, The Freeport Players' Guild, The Paine Family, Mr & Mrs. Fingland, Sanitation Services, Freeport Oil Company, The Goodrum Family and the many anonymous people who have sponsored me.  Every cent counted and I know people have gone without things for themselves and their families and I wouldn't be here without them."
