The Bahamas Dept of Meterology Has Re-Issued Severe Thunderstorm for Grand Bahama, Abaco, New Providence, Andros and Cat Island

THE BAHAMAS DEPARTMENT OF METEOROLOGY HAS RE-ISSUED A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING AND WATCH FROM 12:50 PM EDT UNTIL 2:50 PM WEDNESDAY 8TH , SEPTEMBER 2021.

A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING IS IN EFFECT FOR GRAND BAHAMA, ABACO, NEW PROVIDENCE, ELEUTHERA AND NOW INCLUDES SOUTH ANDROS AND CAT ISLAND, WHILE A WATCH IS NOW IN EFFECT FOR THE BERRY ISLANDS ALONG WITH THEIR ADJACENT WATERS.

AT 12:47 PM OBSERVATION, RADAR AND SATELLITE IMAGERY DEPICTED CLUSTERS OF THUNDERSTORMS MOVING ACROSS THE WARNING AREAS AND TOWARDS THE WATCH AREA.

SOME OF THESE THUNDERSTORMS WILL BE SEVERE AT TIMES CAUSING STRONG GUSTY WINDS, DANGEROUS LIGHTNING, HEAVY DOWNPOURS, HAIL AND POSSIBLE WATERSPOUT OR TORNADIC ACTIVITY.

BOATERS IN THE WARNING AREAS SHOULD SEEK SAFE HARBOUR AND RESIDENTS IN THE WARNING AREAS SHOULD STAY INDOORS AND AWAY FROM WINDOWS. BOATERS AND RESIDENTS IN THE WATCH AREA SHOULD BE PREPARED TO TAKE QUICK ACTION SHOULD CONDITIONS WORSEN.

RESIDENTS SHOULD NOT SEEK SHELTER UNDER TREES OR IN WATER AS THESE CAN BECOME LIGHTNING CONDUCTORS.
