Brendina Rolle, owner of Diamond Luxxe Spa Eyelash Extension, created her business to enhance the natural beauty of each client with luscious lashes.

Her business abides by the motto, “making you beautiful, one lash at a time”.

“Eyelash extensions add volume to the natural lash line and can lift the face and make people appear more youthful. It's no secret societal beauty standards applaud long, thick eyelashes, and with extensions, you can enhance your natural beauty without the use of makeup or other beauty products,” she said.

Brendina decided to dip her hands into the beauty world, because of a bad experience with another lash technician.

“When I got my lashes done the tech applied them incorrectly and damaged my natural lashes and eyelids. I was empowered to learn the craft to apply my extensions personally,” she said.

After falling in love with lashes, Brendina aims to make women feel just as beautiful and confident with the services she offers.

“The vision of Diamond Luxxe Spa is to understand our clients on a personal level and to learn what makes each client look and feel her best. Each client is unique and valued; therefore, each set of lashes must reflect the client's wants, style, and lash manageability. At Diamond Luxxe Spa we are both, store and mobile base. Mobile services are for home and hotel services,” she said.

Diamond Luxxe Spa was established in 2018 after leaving her construction job. Since then she has done training courses in Atlanta and accomplished several goals such as joining online support groups to keep updated with fast paced trends eyelash extension world, conferences and seminars that introduce new products and services all while maintaining excellent quality service.

Through this business she’s met many “inspiring people”, and also had the opportunity to service a celebrity at Atlantis Hotel, she said.

By 2023, Brendina wishes to expand her services and team to satisfy a range of clients.

However her journey to get here hasn't been an easy one, she struggled financially to start her business and build her clientele.

“In the beginning my finances were difficult with starting my business because I wanted to learn the craft aboard. The fee was very expensive, I had to save two years before I could fly to Atlanta to take the course. The support of my husband was tried and tested because he was the only breadwinner while I built my clientele,” Brendina said.

From Brendina’s perspective stepping out into the world of business was a “culture shock”. As she described it. She said, growing up in the Bahamas, Bahamaians are only taught to graduate school and get a job, but the job she had did not fulfill her.

Along with this, she had to nagavitage through the different process of being a business owner and learned from her own experiences because she had little knowledge on managing and operating a business.

“At first, I was excited about owning my own company, but it was a major curve ball because I wasn’t taught how to run a business. I later found a few business classes under the AWE program and the Ministry of Youth Sports and Culture. These organizations gave me the knowledge I needed to become successful,” she said.

Diamond Luxxe Spa was one of the many Bahamian businesses to be negatively affected by the pandemic. She told Bhamaslocal.com, she lost many of her loyal clients because they were a part of the tourism industry.

Nevertheless, through all her learning curves, victories and losses, Diamond Luxxe Spa rarely ever gets negativite complaints from clients for her services. If there is any, Brendina said she does her best to rectify any problems they might have to ensure she maintains a standard of excellent service.

The lash tech profession is growing rapidly in The Bahamas and many offer similar services, but Brendina said she doesn’t see them as competition.

“We are here to build clients' confidence, and beauty. I recommend other lash techs and they do the same for me, we work together,” she said. She stays encouraged with the help of two quotes: “A big business starts small” by Richard Branson and “You can do anything you put your mind to”, Unknown.

To fellow millennials, Brendina believes that all should tap into the talents they have and use it to build relationships, start a business they are passionate about and plan financially to support themselves in these times.

“Find something that you can be passionate about, something that you love to do. Have a financial plan with every business you need revenue. Networking is everything, building meaningful connections with people. Remain focused and “power-hungry” because at the end of the day it will always come down to how bad you want “IT”. Success doesn’t come overnight; therefore, be innovative, and be your biggest fan and cheerleader,“ she said.
