Grace Stubbs said she was lying in bed in her Ridgeland Park home when she heard the gunshots that killed her 23-year-old son, Sario Stuart on Independence Day.

“I lay down in my bed and I heard the shot go off,” she said somberly.

Stubbs said she never got to see her son’s body.

“I said that was my baby,” she said.

“They didn’t want to tell me.

“Someone went and checked him and when they saw, they called my son. And my son went out there and my nephew.

“That was it. I didn’t see him. The police were around here so fast. They coned the area off fast.

“And I didn’t even get to see, like how some family members go through the tape and go and look at it out there, I didn’t have the opportunity.”

Stuart was one of five people murdered in The Bahamas over the holiday weekend.
