NEWS ITEM ON TROPICAL STORM CLAUDETTE ISSUED BY THE BAHAMAS DEPARTMENT OF METEOROLOGY FORECAST OFFICE SECTION, AT 6:00 AM MONDAY 21ST, JUNE 2021.

…CLAUDETTE REACHES TROPICAL STORM STRENGTH AGIN …

AT 5:00 AM EDT, THE CENTER OF TROPICAL DEPRESSION CLAUDETTE WAS LOCATED NEAR LATITUDE 35.6°NORTH AND LONGITUDE 77.6° WEST OR 65 MILES EAST-SOUTHEAST OF RALEIGH NORTH CAROLINA.
CLAUDETTE IS MOVING TOWARD THE EAST-NORTHEAST AT 25 M MILES PER HOUR. ON THIS FORECAST TRACK, THE SYSTEM WILL CROSS INTO THE WESTERN ATLANTIC OCEAN THIS MORNING, AND PASS JUST SOUTH OF NOVA SCOTIA ON TUESDAY.

MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS ARE NEAR 40 MILES PER HOUR WITH HIGHER GUSTS. SOME ADDITIONAL STRENGTHENING IS POSSIBLE OVER THE WESTERN ATLANTIC OCEAN TODAY.
