Young Heart Patients Assisted

Colina Insurance Limited (Colina) donated ten thousand dollars to the Sir Victor Sassoon (Bahamas) Heart Foundation to assist children with heart ailments, in keeping with the company’s commitment to health and wellness.

“February is the ideal time to observe Heart Month,” said Maxine Seymour, Director, Corporate Communications, Colina. “A parent’s love is eternal and we can only image how difficult it is when an infant or young child is diagnosed with a cardiovascular condition.”

“We wanted to show love to these precious young patients and raise awareness for this vital cause that plagues our people,” said Seymour.

Heart disease is the number one cause of death in The Bahamas and the Sir Victor Sassoon (Bahamas) Heart Foundation plays a critical role in helping young children in need of life saving heart surgeries, relying primarily on donations to carry out its work.

“Thanks to Colina for being such a great corporate sponsor,” said Dr. Erecia Hepburn, President, The Bahamas Heart Association who accepted on behalf of the Foundation. “You value the importance of mending hearts that save lives.”

The donation culminates month long observations which included Colina’s employees wearing red on Go Red Day! along with advocacy of healthy lifestyles as a preventative measure on the company’s social media channels.
