Colina Insurance Limited (Colina) and the Rotary Club of Nassau both donated to the pantry of The Bahamas Crisis Centre today.

“Rotary is always motivated by community organizations like the Crisis Centre that do good for people who are in dire need of help,” said Stephen Dean, President, Rotary Club of Nassau.

“We are happy that Colina partnered with us to make the donation much larger to help victims of domestic violence who are in need of grocery and personal items,” said Dean.

The Crisis Centre assists women, children, families or anyone who is suffering in a crisis by providing free counselling and food and shelter, when possible.

“Colina has recently joined this partnership [with the Rotary Club of Nassau] and we would like to thank them for giving the donation to ensure that we reach a wider community with more and more things and food items to give,” said Cleopatra Christie Administrator, The Bahamas Crisis Centre.

In the past two years, the Crisis Centre has placed increased emphasis on children exposed to violence. The Rotary Club of Nassau recently partnered with The Bahamas Crisis Centre to host a virtual domestic violence symposium.

“The Crisis Centre and Colina Insurance Limited share similar objectives: the minimization and mitigation of risks; they are like social insurers and we are more than happy to partner with them on the work they continue to do to support victims of domestic violence and other challenges,” said Maxine Seymour, Director, Corporate Communications, Colina Insurance Limited.

“We hope that our donation goes a long way to restocking the pantry and making the holidays a little brighter for those they serve,” said Seymour.

The Centre provided a list of 21 essential non-perishable food and household items needed for the pantry which was completely depleted prior to today’s presentation.

“Thank you to the Rotary Club of Nassau and Colina,” said Leila Greene, Volunteer and Director, The Bahamas Crisis Centre. “Their donations will make a tremendous difference and help us to operate for a number of months and we are very thankful.”

The donation was presented at the Centre on East Street & Sands Lane.
