Statement from DNA Leader Arinthia S. Komolafe on Potter's Cay Dock fire:

Our nation woke up to devastating news and scenes from the Potter's Cay dock caused by a fire outbreak last night. Many of our people have lost their investments and livelihoods to this tragedy. This follows the challenges businesses have faced prior to and in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic.
I am deeply saddened by this unfortunate event which destroyed several stalls and items at this popular attraction for locals and tourists alike. Potter's Cay is more than just a cluster of restaurants and stalls; it is a cultural centre.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the business owners and workers as well as their families as they go through this difficult period. Please know that DNA stands with you and together, we will rebuild stronger and better. We call upon the Government to provide the necessary relief and support to the vendors impacted to ensure that their livelihood is not negatively impacted for a prolonged period. Immediate relief is needed while efforts to rebuild are underway.
