Seven Day Weather Forecast Sunday 28th to Saturday 6th March 2021

A ridge of high pressure will be in control of the weather for the first few days of the week maintaining a stable atmosphere along with moderate to strong breezes.  The ridge will gradually shift eastwards to support a moist, warm southwesterly flow and increase shower chances on Wednesday.  A cold front is expected to move into the Northwest Bahamas Wednesday evening, drift into the Central Bahamas on Thursday and into Southeast Bahamas on Friday.  Expect cooler temperatures behind this front through Saturday.  Some unsettled weather is expected over the Northwest Bahamas late on Saturday due to the formation of a low pressure over the western Atlantic, just north of the islands.

SUNDAY 28th – Weather: Mostly sunny, warm and breezy to windy with the chance of few passing showers.  Fair, mild and breezy at night.  A Small Craft Caution will be in effect for the Northwest Bahamas while a Small Craft Advisory in effect for the Central and Southeast Bahamas.  Winds: East to Southeast at 15 to 20 knots, gusty at times in the Northwest Bahamas, Easterly at 15 to 25 knots in the Central Bahamas and 20 to 25 knots over open waters in the Southeast Bahamas. Seas: 4 to 7 feet over the ocean in the Northwest Bahamas, 5 to 8 feet in the Central Bahamas and 7 to 10 feet in north to northeasterly swells in the Southeast Bahamas.

MONDAY 1st – Weather: Mostly sunny, warm and breezy to windy.  Fair, mild and breezy at night.  A Small Craft Caution in effect for Central Bahamas and Small Craft Advisory in effect for the Southeast Bahamas.   Winds: Southeasterly a 15 knots in the Northwest Bahamas, East to Southeast at 15 to 20 knots over open waters in the Central Bahamas and Easterly at 15 to 25 knots in the Southeast Bahamas. Seas: 3 to 5 feet over the ocean in the Northwest Bahamas, 4 to 6 feet in the Central Bahamas and 6 to 9 feet in north to northeasterly swells in the Southeast Bahamas.

TUESDAY 2nd – Mostly sunny, warm and a bit breezy with the chance of few passing showers.  Fair and mild at night.  A Small Craft Caution in effect for the Southeast Bahamas.   Winds: Southeast to South at 10 to 15 knots in the Northwest Bahamas, East to Southeast at 10 to 15 knots in the Central Bahamas and Easterly at 15 to 20 knots over open waters in the Southeast Bahamas. Seas: 2 to 4 feet over the ocean in the Northwest and Central Bahamas and 4 to 7 feet in the Southeast Bahamas.

WEDNESDAY 3rd – Partly cloudy, very warm and breezy with isolated showers. Fair and warm at night.  A Small Craft Caution is in effect for the Northwest Bahamas and Southeast Bahamas.  Winds: South to Southwest at 15 to 20 knots in the Northwest Bahamas, Southeast to South at 15 knots in the Central Bahamas but decreasing to 10 knots or less at night; and East to Southeast at 15 to 20 knots in the Southeast Bahamas, decreasing 10 to 15 knots at night.  Seas: 4 to 6 feet over the ocean in the Northwest and Southeast Bahamas, subsiding 2 to 4 feet in the Southeast Bahamas at night. 2 to 4 feet in the Central Bahamas subsiding 3 feet or less at night.

THURSDAY 4th – Variably cloudy with scattered showers and possible isolated thunderstorms mainly in vicinity of the front through tonight.  Winds: Northwest to North at 10 to 15 knots in the Northwest Bahamas, Southwesterly at 10 knots or less ahead of the front in the Central Bahamas, shifting West to Northwest at 10 to 15 knots behind the front. Southwest to West at 10 to 15 knots in the Southeast Bahamas becoming West to Northwest at 10 knots or less at night.  Seas: 2 to 4 feet over the ocean in the Northwest and Southeast Bahamas, falling 3 feet or less at night in the Southeast Bahamas at night. 3 feet or less in the Central Bahamas, building, 2 to 4 feet at night.
                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                      
FRIDAY 5th – Variably cloudy and mild with scattered showers and a few possible thunderstorms mainly in vicinity of the front.  Winds: North to Northeast at 10 to 15 knots in the Northwest and Central Bahamas and Variable, less than 10 knots in the Southeast Bahamas.  Seas: 2 to 4 feet over the ocean in the Northwest and Central Bahamas and less than 3 feet in the Southeast Bahamas.

 

SATURDAY 6th – Partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated showers and a few possible thunderstorms...becoming windy in the Northwest Bahamas at night.  A Small Craft Advisory will come into effect for the Northwest Bahamas at night.   Winds: Northeast to East at 10 to 15 knots in the Northwest Bahamas, backing Northerly at 15 to 25 knots at night and Northeast to East at 10 to 15 knots the Central & Southeast Bahamas but falling light and variable at times.Seas: 2 to 4 feet over the ocean over all areas but building 5 to 8 feet at night in the Northwest Bahamas.
