A Severe Thunderstorm Watch In Effect For Grand Bahama

THE BAHAMAS DEPARTMENT OF METEOROLOGY HAS ISSUED A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH FROM 4:00PM EDT UNTIL 6:00PM TUESDAY 16TH FEBRUARY 2021.

A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH IS NOW IN EFFECT FOR GRAND BAHAMA AND ITS ADJACENT WATERS.

AT 3:55PM OBSERVATION, RADAR AND SATELLITE IMAGERY SHOW A LINE OF THUNDERSTORMS ASSOCIATED WITH A FRONTAL SYSTEM APPROACHING THE AREA.

SOME OF THESE THUNDERSTORMS WILL BE SEVERE AT TIMES CAUSING STRONG GUSTY WINDS, DANGEROUS LIGHTNING, HEAVY DOWNPOURS, HAIL AND POSSIBLE WATERSPOUT OR TORNADIC ACTIVITY.

BOATERS IN THE WATCH AREA SHOULD BE PREPARED TO TAKE QUICK ACTION SHOULD CONDITIONS WORSEN. RESIDENTS SHOULD NOT SEEK SHELTER UNDER TREES OR IN WATER AS THESE CAN BECOME LIGHTNING CONDUCTORS
