A man accused of killing a married couple on Christmas Day due to “dangerous driving” was arraigned in a Magistrate’s Court today.

Alexander Butler, 33, of Monastery Park, was charged with two counts of killing in the course of dangerous driving and driving without third party risk insurance.

Butler denied killing in the course of dangerous driving, but pleaded guilty to driving without insurance.

Butler is accused of killing Brent Johnson, 52, and his wife, Eulona, 49, while driving on West Bay Street.

The couple’s two daughters were seriously injured in the accident but have since been released from hospital.

Butler was remanded to prison. He will return to court on January 28 for a bail hearing.
