DEVNET Software Development Programme Between CISCO and BTVI Launched

NASSAU, The Bahamas -- The Bahamas Government signed a Memorandum of Understanding with CISCO Systems, a worldwide leader in networking technologies and cyber security solutions that will assist in the creation of The Bahamas as a technology hub of the Caribbean. As a result of that MOU, the DEVNET Software Development programme between CISCO and the Bahamas Technical and Vocational Institute (BTVI) was launched today, December 17, 2020. Minister of Education the Hon. Jeffrey Lloyd participated in the launch from the Nassau offices of the Ministry, while Minister of State for Grand Bahama and Finance (with responsibility for digital transformation), the Hon. Kwasi Thompson participated from his Grand Bahama offices. The promotion of a digital economy is one of the priorities of the Bahamas Government. Minister Thompson said: "Despite many obstacles in our way, we have held firm to the vision for technology to be the newest pillar of the economy, and our experience over the past year has made us even more resolute."
