The Bahamas Tourist Office (BTO) has been selected as the number one, worldwide destination marketing agency by travel agents in Canada's largest province - Ontario. In a survey conducted for Baxter Travel Media's Agents' Choice Awards, retail travel agents in Ontario voted that the BTO should receive this prestigious honor for 2010/2011.  Ontario includes Canada's largest city, Toronto. Earl Lince, a director at Baxter Inc. - Canada's leading travel industry publishing group - stated that the annual survey goes out to retail travel agents across Canada, with the greatest responses coming from the Toronto area.  He noted that this particular award is based on the responding agents' impression of the services and support they receive from the tourist office, as well as how well they feel the destination is represented in Canada. There are 96 international tourist offices in Canada that were eligible for the award. BTO came in second nationally.  Jamaica's tourist office received more votes on a national level.  Other categories where The Bahamas got notable results in the awards survey included Favorite Winter Travel Destination (eighth); Favorite Destination for Summer Travel (eighth) and 13th Favorite Honeymoon Destination (thirteenth). National manager of the BTO Janet Cuffie was elated by the results of this year's survey. "We have maintained a presence in Canada for over 40 years, working with the retail travel industry and our tour operator partners to promote The Bahamas; it is great to receive this honorable award recognizing the success of our efforts." She added that the tourist office is an extension of the Bahamas Ministry of Tourism - promoting the destination through both consumer and travel trade events, training and sales promotions. A special thank you advertisement from Tourism's director general David Johnson to the Canadian travel industry was published in the Canadian Travel Press magazine, which announced this year's winners.  In the advertisement, Mr. Johnson reaffirmed the BTO team's commitment to delivering the best support for the travel industry and best experiences for Canadians traveling to The Bahamas.
