Fri, Oct 23rd 2020, 05:53 PM

Please be advised that on the 2 March 2020 the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council made the following Order:

“IT IS ORDERED that

(1) The following reporting restrictions apply in this appeal.

Until the conclusion of the criminal proceedings or further order of the Board or of the courts in the Bahamas, nothing may be reported except the following:

(a) the identity of the court(s) and the name of the judge(s);

(b) the name, age, home address and occupation of the accused;

(c) the offences, or a summary of them, with which the accused is charged;

(d) the names of counsel and solicitors engaged in the appeal.

(2) As from the date of this order, the judgment in this case may be disclosed to Judges of the courts hearing, and to counsel and solicitors or instructing attorneys appearing in, other cases to which the judgment is relevant.”

The effect of this Order is that until the criminal proceedings against Mrs. Donna Vasyli are finally concluded, or further Order of the Court, nothing regarding her trial may be reported, except those exempted items contained in the Order. Any breach of this Order equates to the breach of a court order for which you and/or your organization may be liable to sanction. Please be guided accordingly.
