The Office of the Attorney-General has recently updated the consolidated electronic database of the Statute Laws of The Bahamas, otherwise known as “Bahamas Laws Online.”

In this COVID-19 era, our primary goal during the redesign process is to create a more valuable, user-friendly experience, providing convenient access to current legislation from anywhere, at any time, for practitioners and the general public, both locally and abroad.

The Office of The Attorney-General is pleased to announce the following new features and improvements made to Bahamas Laws Online: (a) the redesigned website provides a more simplified layout;

(b) the majority of the 2018, 2019 and 2020 Acts are now available;

(c) the menu layout has been simplified, allowing users to navigate and find content with ease; (d) an “About This Site” tab has been added to provide users with a detailed description of the different ways in which you can access the legislation catalogued online;

(e) a “Repealed” sub-tab has been added to provide users with a detailed explanation of what constitutes repealed legislation;

(f) a new page has been designed and inserted at the front of a repealed gazette, indicating such; (g) additional notes regarding the commencement date of Acts and Subsidiary Legislation have been included in the “Date Commenced” column of the “Legislation” menu; and

(h) the “Home” page and the FAQs pages have also been updated.

We are confident that these new initiatives will make the site not only more user friendly but also more educational.

Moving forward, the goal is to maintain an electronic database that makes accessing legislation easy and convenient.

Please visit the new and improved website at http://laws.bahamas.gov.bs.

If you are experiencing difficulty accessing the site, we suggest that you clear the cache on your browser to avoid you getting the error page that we know some persons were experiencing after a technical issue was addressed by the DIT Department.
