The Bahamas Association of Compliance Officers (‘BACO’) delivered its first lunch and learn webinar under the theme - “Cybersecurity management, the GRC perspective” via Zoom on Thursday, September 24, 2020.
This month’s session was free to the public and featured a panel of speakers: Rosena Duncanson, Senior Manager – Risk Advisory at Deloitte and Samuel Wilkinson, Financial and Compliance Consultant, Lydda Trust. The event was moderated by BACO public relationships chairperson Derek Smith Jr.
BACO President Maria Dorsett explained, “We chose this very important and relevant topic considering the Covid-19 pandemic which has impacted many business operations which undoubtedly increased cybersecurity threats.” She further added, “BACO resolute in providing quality learning opportunities for our members and the governance, risk, and compliance community in general.”
The virtual meeting, the first of its kind attracted almost 200 participants representing governance, risk, and compliance professionals from a cross-section of industries.
Additionally, panelists tackled both technical and non-technical aspects of cybersecurity and information security while reinforcing the role the compliance officer must play in governance and overall risk management including cybersecurity risk management.
BACO executive vice president Endric Deleveaux closed the event and announced, “BACO will host its Money Laundering Reporting Officers (“MLRO”) Day on November 5, 2020.”
