Death of Bahamian National in the United States of America

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs was saddened to learn of the death of Mr. Kani Rahming, a Bahamian national, studying in Houston, Texas.

The Ministry learned from the authorities in Houston that on 18th September, 2020, approximately 10:00pm, the police responded to an incident on Lazy Hollow, Houston, Texas, where it was discovered that Mr. Kani Rahming, the alleged victim, had been shot in the chest.

He was immediately transported to a nearby hospital where he subsequently succumbed to his injuries.

According to preliminary reports from the media, Mr. Rahming allegedly exited his residence to investigate a rock being thrown through the apartment window. It was during this investigation Mr. Rahming was shot in the chest.

The Ministry has been advised by the Honoray Consul of The Bahamas in Houston, Texas that the Police have not yet made an arrest as they do not have any suspects at this time. A motive for the incident has also been undetermined.

Ministry officials via the Honorary Consul will remain in contact with the family of Mr. Rahming and stand ready to assist wherever possible.

The Ministry requests that the public keep family and loved ones of the deceased in their prayers during this difficult and tragic time.
