News Item on Hurricane Paulette, issued by The Bahamas Department of Meteorology Forecast Office Section at 6 AM, WEDNESDAY 16TH SEPTEMBER 2020.

...PAULETTE EXPECTED TO BECOME A POWERFUL EXTRATROPICAL CYCLONE LATER TODAY...

AT 5 AM EDT, THE CENTER OF HURRICANE PAULETTE WAS LOCATED NEAR LATITUDE 41.9° NORTH AND LONGITUDE 49.1° WEST OR ABOUT 385 MILES SOUTH-SOUTHEAST OF CAPE RACE NEWFOUNDLAND.

PAULETTE IS MOVING TOWARD THE EAST-NORTHEAST NEAR 29 MPH, AND THIS GENERAL MOTION IS EXPECTED INTO THURSDAY. AFTERWARD, PAULETTE IS FORECAST TO SLOW DOWN AND TURN TOWARD THE SOUTHSOUTHEAST AND SOUTH LATE THURSDAY AND FRIDAY.

MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS ARE NEAR 100 MPH WITH HIGHER GUSTS.

ALTHOUGH GRADUAL WEAKENING IS FORECAST, PAULETTE IS EXPECTED TO BECOME A POWERFUL EXTRATROPICAL CYCLONE LATER TODAY.
