The University of The Bahamas Mingoes should have had an easy night against the junior national team Wednesday night in New Providence Volleyball Association (NPVA) action at the D.W. Davis Gymnasium. Maybe the Mingoes took it too easy against the Juniors. The Mingoes had to fight through deuce and then hold off deuce en route to winning in three sets against the junior national team: 26-24, 25-23, 25-19. Team captain Alivia Culmer lead the Mingoes with 15 points – 13 from kills. Audea Simpson contributed eight points (six kills and two blocks) for the Mingoes in the win. Elese Curling had five aces in the win. The Mingoes struggled in the first two sets, allowing the juniors to force deuce in the first set and get close in the second set. “In the first two sets we did have our continuous serve that we usually have, so we were at about 65 percent instead of the 95 percent that we know we can be at,” Culmer said. “That was our biggest issue in those first two sets.”
