Davis says FNM wrong for sidelining officers

Progressive Liberal Party (PLP) Leader Philip Brave Davis charged yesterday that the Minnis administration is “disingenuously” applying a vacation policy to target and sideline certain law enforcement officers. His comments came weeks after it was announced that Royal Bahamas Defence Force (RBDF) Commodore Tellis Bethel was sent on vacation leave and former Deputy Commander Samuel Evans was sent into retirement. Evans expressed his disappointment to The Tribune earlier this week, saying he felt he was forced out of the RBDF. “I’ll never forget what my wife said to me in the yard when I came home,” Evans told The Tribune. “She said, ‘Boy they treat you like you tief something.’ “So I can’t really forgive them for that. It caused me not to want to have anything to do with the Royal Bahamas Defence Force. It left a sour taste in my mouth that I will probably carry to the grave.”
