Pitcher Thomas Davis had 14 strikeouts for New Providence in the Bahamas Softball Federation (BSF) All Island All-Star Tournament men’s division. The team registered a 7-0 shutout victory over Eleuthera on Sunday night at Banker’s Field at Baillou Hills Sporting Complex. New Providence scored four runs in the bottom of the first inning as they took a 4-0 run early in the game. Scoring for New Providence were leadoff batter and centerfielder Angelo Watson, catcher Garfield Bethel, second baseman Adrian McPhee and Davis. Davis had two runs batted in (RBI) in that inning when he hit a power shot that sent the ball deep centerfield and off the fence for an in-park home run. At the top of the second inning, Davis continued his strikeout mission as he struck out three more Eleuthera batters to keep the shut out alive.
