BTC kicked off its third annual reading tour two weeks ago at one of its adopted schools, Eva Hilton Primary. The school’s second graders were in for a treat, as CEO, Garry Sinclair took part in this first session for the school year.

Sinclair said, “I felt right at home with the grade two students at Eva Hilton. At BTC, we believe that kindness is not an option or an opinion, it just is, and we need more random acts of kindness like this. For three years now, our iVolunteers have been visiting schools in New Providence and throughout the Family Islands spreading the joy of literacy.”

Sinclair read Creepy Carrots authored by Aaron Reynolds. The story tells of young Jasper Rabbit, who loved to eat carrots so much, that eventually he began having illusions about the carrots following him.

Naria Holbert, a teacher from Eva Hilton Primary, said “Reading is fundamental to every school, and here at Eva Hilton, we pride ourselves on our students being good readers, because we know that good readers produce great leaders. We have 95% of our students reading on or above grade level, and we are very proud of the success of our students and teachers.”

BTC team members will be reading to students twice monthly for the duration of the school year.
