Thousands of young people and youth leaders representing some 47 schools, and youth organizations and bands, participated in the 2019 Ministry of Youth, Sports and Culture's National Youth Month March and Rally, on October 27, 2019. The theme for the month was " Youth: Globally Connected, Locally Focused": it saluted National Youth Month Patron and Lifetime Honouree, Mr. John Phillpot, for his 60 years of work and many years of leadership of the Scouts Association of The Bahamas. Among those joining the youth on the march from Clifford Park and through parts of New Providence were Minister of Youth, Sports and Culture (MYSC) the Hon. Lanisha Rolle, who gave a welcome address at the rally; Minister of National Security the Hon. Marvin Dames; Member of Parliament Travis Robinson; Senator Jamal Moss; Under Secretaries Renee Bullard (Acting) and Montez Williams; Head of the Division of Youth Sandena Neely; beauty queens; and youth stakeholders from various uniformed, church and civic organizations. Mr. Phillpot is pictured waving to the crowd from his honouree's vehicle.
