Seven Day Forecast for the Bahamas from 17th to 23rd October 2019

General Situation: An approaching cold front and pre-frontal activity will affect the NW Bahamas today through Friday, as a system moves southward and eastwards. The weak front will become stationary over the NW and Central Bahamas late Friday or early Saturday as low pressure or tropical cyclone in the Gulf of Mexico moves toward the Florida Panhandle. As low pressure or tropical cyclone moves along the Eastern United States with troughing back across Florida and the NW Bahamas, the front will shift east of the Bahamas. The low or tropical disturbance will move off the northeast United States as another cold front move near/across the NW Bahamas on Wednesday.

Thursday 17th – Partly cloudy, humid and hot with few scattered showers or isolated thunderstorms mainly across the NW Bahamas during the daytime. Partly cloudy to fair skies and warm with the slight chance of a shower at night in the Central and SE Bahamas, but cloudy periods and warm with the chance of passing isolated showers in the NW Bahamas. Maximum temperature 91°F and minimum temperature 74°F. Winds S to SW veering W to NW at 10 to 15 knots in the NW Bahamas but gusty at times, and E to SE at 10 knots or less in the Central and SE Bahamas, falling light and variable at times overall areas. Seas 2 to 4 feet in the NW Bahamas, falling to 1 to 3 feet at times and 1 to 3 feet over the Central and SE Bahamas.

Friday 18th – Variably cloudy, humid and hot with few scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms mainly across the NW and SE Bahamas during the daytime. Variably cloudy and warm at night with the chance of isolated showers likely. Maximum temperature 90°F and minimum temperature 76°F. Winds variable at 10 knots or less overall areas, becoming E to SE at 10 to 15 knots late across the NW and SE Bahamas. Seas 1 to 3 feet overall areas, and 2 to 4 feet in portions of the NW and SE Bahamas late.

Saturday 19th – Partly to mostly cloudy, and sultry with few scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms across the Bahamas during the daytime through nightfall. Maximum temperature 89°F and minimum temperature 76°F. Small craft should exercise caution in the NW Bahamas. Winds SSE to SSW at 15 to 20 knots in the NW Bahamas and E to SE at 10 to 15 knots in the Central and SE Bahamas. Seas 4 to 6 feet in the NW Bahamas and 2 to 4 feet across the Central and SE Bahamas.

Sunday 20th – A mix of sun and clouds, hot and humid with few scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms mainly across the NW and Central Bahamas during the daytime. Partly cloudy to fair and warm at night with few lingering scattered showers or isolated thunderstorms. Maximum temperature 91°F and minimum temperature 79°F. Winds S to SW at 10 to 15 knots with gusty winds at times and E to SE at 10 to 15 knots, falling 10 knots or less at times in the Central and SE Bahamas. Seas 2 to 4 feet overall areas, but falling to 1 to 3 feet at times, becoming higher in gusts.

Monday 21st – Partly to mostly sunny, hot, and humid with few lingering showers or a possible isolated thunderstorm mainly across the SE Bahamas during the daytime. Partly cloudy to fair skies and warm at night with the chance of a passing isolated shower. Maximum temperature 90°F and a minimum temperature 79°F. Winds variable at 10 knots or less across the NW Bahamas and E’ly at 10 to 15 knots in the Central and SE Bahamas. Seas 1 to 3 feet in the NW Bahamas, and 2 to 4 feet in the Central and SE Bahamas.

Tuesday 22nd – Partly sunny, humid and hot with the chance of isolated showers during the daytime. Partly cloudy to fair and warm at night with the slight chance of a passing shower. Maximum temperature 90°F and a minimum temperature 77°F. Winds E to SE at 10 to 15 knots in the NW Bahamas, falling light and variable at times and E’ly at 10 to 15 knots in the Central and SE Bahamas. Seas 1 to 3 feet in the NW Bahamas and 2 to 4 feet in the Central and SE Bahamas.

Wednesday 23rd – Partly to mostly sunny, humid and hot with isolated showers at first for all areas, but increasing clouds and the chance of few scattered showers mainly across the NW and Central Bahamas late. Maximum temperature 90°F and minimum temperature 77°F. Small craft should exercise caution across the NW and SE Bahamas late. Winds variable at 10 knots or less in the NW Bahamas early but increasing to 15 to 20 knots later and E’ly at 10 to 15 knots in the Central and SE Bahamas, increasing to 15 to 20 knots in the SE Bahamas. Seas 1 to 3 feet in the NW Bahamas building to 4 to 6 feet later and 2 to 4 feet in the Central and SE Bahamas, but building to 4 to 6 feet across the SE Bahamas late.

Beachgoers and mariners should be vigilant for rough surf and the moderate to high risk of dangerous rip currents mainly along the north and east coast beaches during the stated advisories. Mariners should exercise caution for gusty winds and higher seas during heavy showers or strong to severe thunderstorms. Mariners should also be alert for waterspout activity during the daytime through nightfall across all areas. Localized flooding during heavy downpours across low lying and flood prone areas is expected.
