The passing of the late Mr. Tennyson Roscoe Gabriel Wells is still a shock to those of us who knew, worked and looked up to him. In my role as Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture and Marine Resources with specific focus on BAMSI, I developed a very close working relationship with Mr. Wells during his time as our chairman and president.

From the outset, it was clear that Mr. Wells had a special affinity for Agriculture, having served in the position before under the historic first two terms of the FNM. His love for and understanding of farming along with his business acumen showed clearly in how he was able to position BAMSI for success into the future. I will forever be grateful for the service he gave as head of our nation’s premier institute for agricultural education.

I will also be eternally grateful to Mr. Wells for the advice and mentorship he so graciously gave on all matters governmental and political. Tennyson was fiercely vocal and strong in his opinions and was a firm believer in leading by example.

His love for island communities such as North Andros was also a factor in the approach he took to his leadership of BAMSI. Tennyson knew the importance of maintaining BAMSI’s role as a viable economic force in North Andros that could not only attract students from throughout the country and region but also provide jobs for the community of North Andros. The capital works being done by BAMSI under his leadership is a testament to his commitment to the North Andros community. He will be missed dearly.

To Mrs. Wells and the entire Wells family, I offer my sincere condolences on behalf of the team at BAMSI and also the community of North Andros and the Berry Islands. May his soul rest in peace.
