A MAN died in hospital after he was shot while sitting in his car on Wednesday night, police said. The incident is the sixth killing police reported this week. It pushed the murder count to 76 for the year, according to this newspaper’s records.

Police said shortly before 11pm on Wednesday, a man was sitting in a vehicle at Bimini Avenue off Market Street, when he was approached by an armed man. The man opened fire in his direction, injuring him before fleeing the scene. The injured man was taken to hospital where he later died.

Meanwhile, two other men are in hospital after they were shot earlier on Wednesday. According to police, shortly after 4pm, three men were at a mechanic’s shop on Pinedale Road off Wulff Road when an armed man entered and began firing in their direction, injuring two men. The culprit escaped.
