The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) plans to receive a plane load of relief supplies at Odyssey Aviation Nassau (MYNN) today at 3:30pm today, September 5, 2019.

The Red Cross cannot guarantee media access, but hopes to offer stand-up interviews in the hours after the plane lands, as well as shots of the supplies being unloaded.

With access to the battered islands slowly beginning to open up, the Red Cross has started rolling out a major emergency relief effort. We have had a rapid assessment and response team on standby since the beginning of the week they are moving in to join our previously deployed team members. Getting relief to people in need is our number one priority. We are doing everything we can to get aid to hard-to-reach places in the wake of Hurricane Dorian.

Damaged roads and telecommunications infrastructure present challenges, but Red Cross teams are working around the clock to respond to this devastating storm.
