NEWS ITEM ON TROPICAL STORM GABRIELLE ISSUED BY THE BAHAMAS DEPARTMENT OF METEOROLOGY FORECAST OFFICE SECTION, AT 6PM EST, WEDNESDAY 04TH SEPTEMBER 2019.

GABRIELLE MOVING NORTHWESTWARD OVER EASTERN ATLANTIC.

AT 5 AM EDT, THE CENTER OF TROPICAL STORM GABRIELLE WAS LOCATED NEAR LATITUDE 21.0°NORTH AND LONGITUDE 34.0° WEST OR ABOUT 740 MILES WEST-NORTHWEST OF THE CABO VERDE ISLANDS.

GABRIELLE IS MOVING TOWARD THE NORTHWEST NEAR 9 MPH (15 KM/H), AND THIS MOTION IS EXPECTED TO CONTINUE THROUGH SATURDAY, WITH AN INCREASE IN FORWARD SPEED EXPECTED LATE IN THE WEEK.

MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS ARE NEAR 50 MPH (85 KM/H) WITH HIGHER GUSTS. LITTLE CHANGE IN STRENGTH IS FORECAST DURING THE NEXT 48 HOURS, WITH SOME STRENGTHENING POSSIBLE OVER THE WEEKEND.
