Last week during the Ministry of Education’s annual Public Schools Administrators Conclave, BTC’s CEO Garry Sinclair proudly announced that the company provided 2,500 tablets to assist with the Ministry’s agenda of digitizing and transforming the education system.

The tablets were officially presented to the Ministry during the Opening Ceremony. Each administrator attending the conclave will receive a Samsung tablet courtesy of BTC. Additionally, during the two-day conclave, BTC along with its partner Samsung, provided training and resource materials for the 450 administrators taking part.

Minister of Education, The Hon. Jeffrey Lloyd said, “Education is such a large enterprise that we cannot do it without our partners. BTC has been incredible. I’m very proud of them, how they work to make sure what they committed to is in fact executed. They continue to give us great wonderful ideas on how we can further enhance the product we want to rollout for students and teachers. I am very grateful to BTC because in addition to what they are doing we are further collaborating on another vision with regards to the schools’ management enterprise. We have a number of programs to make the school system effective and BTC is helping us with that.”

Local Samsung trainer, Handran Miller provided the administrators with the basics on how to secure the Samsung Tab E tablet and link it to other devices. Administrators were also trained on how to use a number of e-learning and productivity programs in the classroom, and how to take advantage of other devices including their mobile phones to assist with the learning process. During the training sessions five administrators won newly introduced Samsung A50 and A20 devices.

President of the Bahamas Educators Managerial Union, Stephen McPhee said, “When I heard the announcement, I was elated, proud and overjoyed because we have maintained, that if you want us to be twenty-first century leaders then we need the tools and resources. When administrators and leaders have the tools, resources and support of not only employers but the private sector, that definitely speaks to success so that is a major benefit. BTC’s donation goes well toward the objectives of education managers and leaders with supplying and providing change.”

Last year, BTC signed an agreement with the Ministry of Education to connect one hundred and twenty-seven schools in thirteen islands with fast, secure and reliable internet. BTC has delivered on this agreement on time and ahead of schedule. The company is confident that this investment will help the nation’s thrust to become a smart nation.
