There is no accountability in the running of family island airports, owner of the Sandpiper Inn and president of the Bahamas Out Island Promotion Board Dr. Larry Carroll said yesterday, explaining that out island airports should be run like the Nassau Airport Development Company’s (NAD) Lynden Pindling International Airport.

Carroll, who was speaking at a press conference for the Abaco Business Outlook yesterday and who will be a speaker at the outlook next Thursday, explained that the airport in Abaco has been allowed to deteriorate. He also criticized the way some of the airport’s employees behave while at work.

“When you look at the overall picture of the airport it has more to do with we the people,” he said.

“We the people really don’t give a hoot. We are not maintenance conscious, we don’t realize that this is our front yard and it needs to be presentable.
