Seven Day Forecast For The Bahamas from 22nd to 28th August 2019

General Situation: Mid to upper level troughing will enhance unsettled weather over the area as broad surface troughing shifts westward across the NW Bahamas. As the mid to upper level trough shifts northwest and westwards through the weekend, the broad trough will move along the Florida Peninsula and turn northeastward along the eastern United States seaboard. The trough will become a low pressure system off Carolina’s coast with a trough trailing to the Bahamas through Wednesday. Meanwhile, high pressure ridge will weaken across the area, thus allowing winds to slacken over the Bahama through the beginning of the week.

Thursday 22nd– Variably cloudy, breezy and warm with scattered showers and thunderstorms, some showers becoming heavy and some thunderstorms strong to severe at times mainly across the NW and Central Bahamas during the day through the nighttime. Elsewhere in the SE Bahamas, partly sunny, breezy and warm with passing showers, turning partly cloudy and breezy with the chance of a passing shower at night time. Maximum temperature 88°F and minimum temperature 75°F. Small craft should exercise caution for all areas.Winds NE to E at 10 to 15 knots ahead of the trough, but E to SE at 15 to 20 knots, falling to 10 to 15 knots later in the NW and Central Bahamas and E to SE at 15 to 20 knots in the SE Bahamas, decreasing to 10 to 15 knots later. Seas 2 to 4 feet ahead and behind the trough in the NW and Central Bahamas, building to 4 to 6 feet at times and 4 to 6 feet in the SE Bahamas, falling to 2 to 4 feet later.

Friday 23rd – Variably cloudy, breezy and warm with scattered showers and widely scattered thunderstorms, some showers becoming heavy and some thunderstorms strong to severe at times mainly across the NW and Central Bahamas during the daytime through nightfall. Maximum temperature 89°F and a minimum temperature 75°F. Small craft should continue to exercise caution across all areas early. Winds SE to S at 15 to 20 knots in the NW Bahamas, decreasing to 10 to 15 knots later and SE’ly at 15 to 20 knots in the Central and SE Bahamas, decreasing to 10 to 15 knots in the Central Bahamas late. Seas 4 to 6 feet overall areas, falling to 2 to 4 feet in the NW and Central Bahamas late.

Saturday24th– Partly cloudy to cloudy, warm and humid with few scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms during the daytime through nightfall. Maximum temperature 91°F and a minimum temperature 77°F.Small craft should exercise caution overall areas early. Winds E to SE at 15 to 20 knots overall areas early, decreasing to 10 to 15 knots in the NW and Central Bahamas later. Seas 4 to 6 feet overall areas, falling to 2 to 4 feet in the NW and Central Bahamas later.

Sunday 25th– Partly to mostly cloudy, humid and warm with widely scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms mainly across the NW and Central Bahamas during the daytime through the night. Elsewhere in the SE Bahamas, partly sunny and hot with isolated showers or a possible thunderstorm, turning mainly fair and warm at night time. Maximum temperature 90°F and a minimum temperature 79°F. Small craft should continue to exercise caution in the Central and SE Bahamas early. Winds S’ly at 10 to 15 knots in the NW Bahamas and E to SE at 15 to 20 knots in the Central and SE Bahamas. Seas 2 to 4 feet across the NW Bahamas and 4 to 6 feet in the Central and SE Bahamas, falling to 2 to 4 feet in the Central Bahamas later.

Monday 26th– Variably cloudy, humid and hot with few scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms across the NW and Central Bahamas during the daytime. Partly cloudy to fair skies and warm at night time with the chance of an isolated passing shower. Maximum temperature 92°F and a minimum temperature 79°F. Winds SSE to SSW at 10 to 15 knots in the NW and Central Bahamas, falling light and variable at times and E to SE at 12 to 18 knots in the SE Bahamas. Seas 2 to 4 feet in the NW and Central Bahamas and 3 to 5 feet in the SE Bahamas.

Tuesday 27th– Partly cloudy to cloudy, humid and hot with few scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms mainly across the NW Bahamas during the daytime. Partly to mostly cloudy and warm with the chance of few isolated showers at night time. Maximum temperature 92°F and a minimum temperature 79°F. Winds variable at 10 knots or less across the NW and Central Bahamas and E to SE at 10 to 15 knots in the SE Bahamas. Seas3 feet or less over the NW and Central Bahamas, and 2 to 4 feet in the SE Bahamas.

Wednesday 28th – Variably cloudy, hot and humid with some scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms during the daytime. Partly cloudy to fair skies and warm at night time with the chance of an isolated shower. Maximum temperature 92°F and minimum temperature 79°F. Winds variable at 10 knots or less over the NW and Central Bahamas and E’ly at 10 to15 knots in the SE Bahamas. Seas 3 feet or less over the NW and Central Bahamas and 2 to 4 feet in the SE Bahamas.

Beachgoers and mariners should be vigilant for rough surf and the moderate to high risk of dangerous rip currents mainly along the east coast beaches during the stated advisories. Mariners should exercise caution for gusty winds and higher seas during heavy showers or thunderstorms. Mariners should also be alert for waterspout activity during the daytime through nightfall across all areas. Localized flooding during heavy downpours across low lying and flood prone areas are expected.
