Govt to pay homeowners to house UB students

While challenging the University of The Bahamas (UB) to establish a housing registry, Prime Minister Dr. Hubert Minnis said the government will give homeowners in New Providence $500 for every student they accommodate in their homes.

“Now, I’m going to put out a challenge to UB here tonight,” Minnis said.

“UB must establish a housing register so that Bahamians with homes – be they in the east or the west or central – can register their homes. For every student that that homes accommodate, that homeowner will be given $500.
