A 37-year-old Dominican accused of restricting another woman’s movements and exploiting her appeared in court yesterday.

Prosecutors allege that Sobeyda Garcia Reyes, also known as Soybeda Scrivens, of West Bay Street, trafficked the 23-year-old Venezuelan national, conspired to traffic her and unlawfully withheld her passport.

The offenses allegedly took place between December 1, 2018, and January 31, 2019.

Speaking through a Spanish interpreter, Reyes elected summary trial and pleaded not guilty to the charges at her arraignment before Chief Magistrate Joyann Ferguson-Pratt.
