Moxey: BPL could have LNG facility by end of 2021

Bahamas Power and Light (BPL) could have a liquefied natural gas (LNG) facility by the end of 2021, the company’s Chairman Dr. Donovan Moxey told the media yesterday.

Speaking during a press conference at BPL’s Clifton Pier power plant yesterday, Moxey said the development of the LNG facility by Shell North America is the third phase of the BPL board’s generation turnaround strategy.

The development of this facility could also mean Shell North America is another step closer to taking control of power generation for the island of New Providence, though BPL executives would not give a definitive timeline for that handover.
