The General Post Office yesterday sustained water damage as a result of a pipe bursting during upgrades to the sprinkler system, advised Minister of Transport and Local Government Renward Wells.
“At 9:45 a.m. today, a fault in pipeline of the newly upgraded fire prevention system resulted in water incursion to a small area of the mail sorting area of the General Post Office (GPO) at the Town Centre Mall,” Wells said in a statement.
“Prior to the GPO occupying the premises, the sprinkler system was successfully tested for adequacy and integrity.
