Commissioner of Police Anthony Ferguson said yesterday that since its implementation, ShotSpotter has provided police with over 500 leads.

This follows criticism from Progressive Liberal Party (PLP) Leader Philip Brave Davis, who questioned whether the technology was helpful in the response to a shooting in Montell Heights in June that left 14 injured.

Davis called the technology a bad investment.

“ShotSpotter is an intelligence technology that is used to assist law enforcement in identifying certain things,” Ferguson said at a press conference at police headquarters.
