The only relevant faction not to be heard from yet as it relates to the water polo blunder for Team Bahamas at the 28th Central American and Caribbean Amateur Swimming Confederation (CCCAN) Water Polo Championships in Wildey, Christ Church, Barbados, were the parents, and they came to their own defense yesterday.

Dr. Carnille Farquharson, a member of the advisory committee for water polo and a water polo parent, said that as a group, they were unnecessarily attacked verbally, and wanted to clear the air.

The under-18 (U18) boys national water polo squad qualified for the gold medal match of the 28th CCCAN Championships, but couldn’t take part because a lack of funding prevented them from staying an extra night in Barbados. They were booked on a morning flight out of Barbados Sunday before last, and the gold medal match was slated for later that evening. Team Bahamas was awarded with the bronze medal.
