NEWS ITEM ON POTENTIAL TROPICAL CYCLONE TWO ISSUED BY THE

BAHAMAS DEPARTMENT OF METEOROLOGY FORECAST OFFICE SECTION,

AT 6:00 AM THURSDAY 11TH JULY 2019.

… DISTURBANCE IS NOT A DEPRESSION YET BUT EXPECTED TO BE ONE

AT 5:00 AM EDT, THE DISTURBANCE WAS LOCATED NEAR LATITUDE

27.5°NORTH AND LONGITUDE 88.2° WEST OR ABOUT 200 MILES SOUTHSOUTHEAST OF THE MOUTH OF THE

MISSISSIPPI RIVER AND 235 MILES

SOUTHEAST OF MORGAN CITY LOUISIANA.

THE SYSTEM IS MOVING TOWARD THE WEST AT 5 MILES PER HOUR, BUT A

WEST-NORTHWEST TRACK MOTION IS EXPECTED ON FRIDAY FOLLOWED BY

A NORTHWESTWARD TRACK BY EARLY SUNDAY. ON THIS TRACK THE

SYSTEM IS EXPECTED TO APPROACH THE LOUISIANA COAST THIS WEEKEND.

MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS ARE NEAR 30 MILES PER HOUR WITH

HIGHER GUSTS. STRENGTHENING IS FORECAST DURING THE NEXT COUPLE

OF DAYS, AND THE DISTURBANCE IS FORECAST TO BECOME A TROPICAL

DEPRESSION OR A TROPICAL STORM LATER TODAY, AND COULD BECOME A

HURRICANE BY LATE FRIDAY.

THIS SYSTEM POSES NO THREAT TO THE BAHAMAS.
