SEVEN DAY FORECAST FOR THE BAHAMAS from 08th to 14th July 2019

General Situation: Troughing in the low levels across the NW Bahamas in combination with a mid to upper level low across the Central and SE Bahamas continues to trigger pockets of unsettled weather across most of the Northwest Islands. Surface to low level troughing near the NW Bahamas and across Florida on Tuesday will shift westward into the Northern Gulf of Mexico where it will likely form into a tropical cyclone system by Thursday, then shift inland somewhere along the western Gulf of Mexico coast. Meanwhile, an upper level low will move through the Central and SE Bahamas through Thursday and then it will shift across the NW Bahamas through Sunday with little associated unsettled weather at times. High pressure ridge will continue to produce an easterly to southeasterly wind flow as moderate to strong breezes remain over the area through Sunday.

Monday 08th – Partly cloudy to cloudy, hot and humid with scattered showers and widely scattered thunderstorms mainly across the NW and Central Bahamas during the daytime through nightfall. Partly sunny, hot and humid with few isolated showers in the SE Bahamas, turning fair and warm at night time. Maximum temperature 91°F and a minimum temperature 77°F. Winds SSE to SSW at 12 to 18 knots in the NW and Central Bahamas, decreasing to 10 to 15 knots later and E to SE at 10 to 15 knots across the SE Bahamas. Seas 3 to 5 feet in the NW and Central Bahamas, falling to 2 to 4 feet later and 2 to 4 feet across the SE Bahamas.

Tuesday 09th – Partly cloudy and cloudy, breezy and hot with few scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms mainly across the NW and Central Bahamas during the daytime, turning partly cloudy to fair skies and warm at night time with few isolated showers or a thunderstorm across the NW Bahamas. Maximum temperature 91°F and a minimum temperature 78°F. Small craft should exercise caution across all areas. Winds SSE to SSW at 15 to 20 knots in the NW Bahamas and E to SE at 15 to to 20 knots in the Central and SE Bahamas, falling to 10 to 15 knots or less at times overall areas. Seas 4 to 6 feet, falling to 2 to 4 feet at times overall area later.

Wednesday 10th – Partly to mostly sunny, humid and hot with widely scattered showers and isolated thunderstorm during the daytime. Partly cloudy to fair skies and warm at night time with few lingering scattered showers or isolated thunderstorms mainly in the NW Bahamas. Maximum temperature 91°F and minimum temperature 79°F. Small craft should exercise caution in the SE Bahamas. Winds SE to S at 10 to 15 knots in the NW Bahamas, falling light and variable at times; SE at S at 10 to 15 knots with higher gusts in the Central Bahamas and E to SE at 15 to 20 knots in the SE Bahamas, decreasing to 10 to 15 knots at times. Seas 2 to 4 feet in the NW and Central Bahamas but higher in gusts and 4 to 6 feet in the SE Bahamas, falling to 2 to 4 feet at times.

Thursday 11th – Partly cloudy, hot and humid with few scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms mainly across the NW Bahamas during the daytime through nightfall. Maximum temperature 92°F and minimum temperature 79°F. Small craft should exercise caution in the SE Bahamas. Winds SE to S at 10 to 15 knots in the NW Bahamas; E to SE at 10 to 15 knots in the Central Bahamas, falling light and variable at times and E’ly at 15 to 20 knots in the SE Bahamas. Seas 2 to 4 feet in the NW and Central Bahamas, falling to 1 to 3 feet at times and 4 to 6 feet in the SE Bahamas.

Friday 12th – Partly cloudy to cloudy, humid and hot with few scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms during the daytime, turning partly cloudy to fair at night with the chance of a passing shower. Maximum temperature 93°F and a minimum temperature 80°F. Small craft should exercise caution in the SE Bahamas. Winds E to SE at 10 to 15 knots in the NW and Central Bahamas and E’ly at 15 to 20 knots in the SE Bahamas. Seas 2 to 4 feet in the NW and Central Bahamas and 4 to 6 feet in the SE Bahamas.

Saturday 13th – Partly to occasionally cloudy, humid and hot with widely scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms during the daytime through nightfall. Maximum temperature 93°F and a minimum temperature 82°F. Small craft should exercise caution across the SE Bahamas. Winds E to SE at 10 to 15 knots in the NW and Central Bahamas, gusting between 15 to 20 knots in parts of the Central Bahamas at times and E’ly at 15 to 20 knots in the SE Bahamas. Seas 2 to 4 feet in the NW and Central Bahamas, building to 4 to 6 feet at times in parts of the Central Bahamas and 4 to 6 feet in the SE Bahamas.

Sunday 14th – Partly cloudy, humid and hot with few scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms during the daytime. Partly cloudy to fair skies and warm with few scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms. Maximum temperature 93°F and a minimum temperature 81°F. Small craft should continue to exercise caution across the SE Bahamas. Winds E’ly at 10 to 15 knots in the NW and Central Bahamas and E’ly at 15 to 20 knots in the SE Bahamas. Seas 2 to 4 feet across the NW and Central Bahamas and 4 to 6 feet in the SE Bahamas.

Beachgoers and mariners should be vigilant due to rough surf and the high risk of dangerous rip currents mainly along the north and east coast beaches during stated advisories. Mariners should exercise caution for gusty winds and higher seas during heavy showers or thunderstorms. Mariners should also be alert waterspout activity during the daytime across all areas. Residents should take all precautions to remain hydrated and minimize outdoor exposure during peak sunshine periods as heat indices continue to reach the low to the mid-triple-digit range.
